Meet the Audiologist
Dr. Carrie Smith is an accomplished practitioner who received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Southern Mississippi in 2007 and her Doctor of Audiology degree from the University of Southern Mississippi in 2011. While completing her doctorate degree, she was an active member of her local and state Speech & Hearing Association. She was awarded a graduate assistantship with The Children’s Center for Communication and Development at USM during her first year of graduate school and the following two years was awarded a graduate assistantship with the Speech & Hearing department at USM. Dr. Smith completed her 4th year externship at Otolaryngology Associates, Ltd. in Columbus, MS. She continued to work there following graduation, in addition to teaching as an adjunct instructor at Mississippi University for Women in the Speech-Language Pathology department. In July 2015, Dr. Smith accepted a full-time position at Mississippi University for Women as Assistant Professor of Audiology where she taught both undergraduate and graduate students, in addition to managing the Audiology clinic at the Speech & Hearing Center on campus. In 2018, Dr. Smith and family decided to return to their hometown and she accepted a position with Merit Health as a Clinical Audiologist where she continues to work part-time. Throughout this transition, Dr. Smith also worked with UMMC Otolaryngology department as PRN Assistant Professor of Audiology at the ENT clinic. In 2024, Dr. Smith decided to pursue her dream of having her own Audiology clinic in order to better serve her home community and surrounding areas, so Smith Audiology, LLC was created!
